On February 2, Waymo, Alphabet's self-driving technology company, announced it had raised $16 billion in new funding, bringing its post-money valuation to $126 billion. The round was led by Dragoneer Investment Group, DST Global, and Sequoia Capital, with significant participation from a16z and Mubadala Capital. Other investors included Bessemer Venture Partners, Silver Lake, Tiger Global, and Temasek. Waymo stated that its annual rides have more than tripled in 2025, reaching 15 million, with cumulative rides surpassing 20 million. The company plans to launch its ride-hailing service in over 20 cities this year, including Tokyo and London, accelerating its global commercial rollout.
