Tesla has introduced a new all-wheel-drive (AWD) version of the Model Y in the U.S. market, priced at $41,990 (approximately RMB 292,000), slotting between the rear-wheel-drive (RWD) variant ($39,990) and higher-end trims. The new model features a dual-motor AWD system, accelerating from 0 to 60 mph in just 4.6 seconds and offering an EPA-estimated range of 294 miles (473 km). Simultaneously, Tesla has discontinued the "Standard Range" naming convention; the former Standard Range model is now renamed the Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD) version, aligning the entire lineup with a clearer, more intuitive naming structure. The U.S. Model Y lineup now comprises five variants, spanning from base to high-performance configurations. While retaining core performance attributes, the new AWD version trims certain features compared to higher-end models—such as wheels, lighting, audio system, and seat materials—to strategically fill a gap in both price and performance, thereby broadening Tesla’s market reach.
