XPeng recently announced the merger of its former Autonomous Driving Center and Smart Cockpit Center into a new "General Intelligence Center." The department is led by Liu Xianming, formerly head of autonomous driving, and reports directly to CEO He Xiaopeng. Positioned as an AI organization serving both automotive and robotics applications, the new center has established a two-tier organizational structure centered around core areas including foundation models, infrastructure, platform-based delivery, and product project quality. Its AI technology mid-platform will provide unified support for applications in intelligent driving, smart cockpits, and robotics. At its global product launch event in January, XPeng demonstrated the collaborative capabilities of its second-generation VLA (for autonomous driving) and VLM (for smart cockpits), enabling low-latency execution of voice commands such as “Take me to Starbucks and park right at the entrance.”
