On February 7, 2026, a closed-door annual meeting of China's Industry-Academia-Research Collaborative Innovation Platform for All-Solid-State Batteries was held in Beijing. The meeting was co-chaired by Academician Ouyang Minggao and Academician Lian Yubo, bringing together representatives from government, industry, academia, and research institutions to focus on the latest progress in all-solid-state battery R&D, key technical challenges, and pathways toward industrialization. Guest speakers including Miao Wei, Chen Liquan, and Wang Jianhua emphasized that solid-state batteries represent a critical direction for developing new quality productive forces, underscoring the need to integrate fundamental and applied research and strengthen collaboration across the industrial chain. In his presentation, Ouyang Minggao noted that China has achieved preliminary results in areas such as materials and cell development, but significant challenges remain—particularly regarding interfacial stability and manufacturing processes. Representatives from automakers like FAW and BYD called for enhanced coordination among vehicle manufacturers, battery companies, and research institutes to jointly optimize safety, cost, and performance. The meeting concluded with a clear commitment: the platform will continue advancing AI-driven R&D, smart manufacturing, and the establishment of an intellectual property alliance to help maintain China’s leadership in the global competition for next-generation battery technologies.
