NIO today launched the industry's first "Smart Scene-based Vehicle Control" feature. Users can now automatically open or close the front and rear trunks simply by standing still or shaking their NIO Phone—no need to unlock their phone or open an app. Powered by NIO’s self-developed NIO Link protocol stack, this feature combines dual-end UWB high-precision positioning with smartphone motion sensor algorithms to accurately anticipate user intent. The functionality is now available on all NIO Phone models and compatible with the ET9 and all-new ES8. NIO stated it will continue rolling out more intelligent vehicle control interaction experiences in the future. Since its debut in September 2023, the NIO Phone has emphasized “zero system ads and zero commercial pre-installs,” while continuously enhancing its vehicle-to-phone connectivity capabilities.
