Tesla announced that its new autonomous electric vehicle, the Tesla Cybercab, will begin mass production at the Texas Gigafactory and simultaneously enter real-world operations. According to a company statement released on February 9, this purpose-built, self-driving electric vehicle will be scaled up for production first at the Texas facility, marking a critical step toward the commercialization of Tesla’s Robotaxi service. The Cybercab features no steering wheel or pedals and relies entirely on its autonomous driving system, positioning it as the core vehicle for Tesla’s future autonomous ride-hailing service.
