Tencent and Tesla have recently collaborated to enhance the smart cabin experience, launching two new features—"WeChat Connectivity" and "Destination Services"—which are being rolled out via OTA updates to over one million Model 3 and Model Y vehicles in the Chinese market. These features will also come pre-installed on future new vehicles. Users can now send locations shared in WeChat chats or POI (Point of Interest) information from popular map apps directly to their vehicle’s infotainment system with a single tap, automatically initiating navigation—enabling a seamless “discover on phone, arrive by car” experience. Upon reaching their destination, the “Destination Services” feature intelligently identifies nearby venues such as cafes or tourist attractions. Users can quickly access merchants’ WeChat Mini Programs either through mobile notifications or by scanning a QR code displayed on the vehicle’s screen, enabling in-car actions like reservations and food ordering. The relevant updates began rolling out gradually ahead of the 2026 Chinese New Year holiday.
