Porsche is accelerating its electric performance strategy, with recent spy photos revealing a new high-performance variant of the Taycan. The car is rumored to be named the Taycan GT4 RS and has been co-developed in close collaboration with Porsche’s official partner, Manthey Racing. It has already undergone testing at the Nürburgring and on icy roads in Sweden. Aiming to break the 7-minute lap time barrier at the Nürburgring Nordschleife—currently held by the Taycan Turbo GT at 7:07.55—the new model ditches its rear seats for significant weight reduction and features enhanced aerodynamics, including a larger front lip, an adjustable rear spoiler, and a massive rear diffuser. Powering the vehicle is a dual-motor system expected to surpass the Turbo GT’s output of 1,019 horsepower. Despite growing competition from Chinese brands and the upcoming Ferrari Luce, this “more extreme” Taycan isn’t expected to launch until 2027, potentially serving as a pivotal move for Porsche to redefine its image in the electric high-performance segment.
