A Toyota salesperson, Ron Henry, recently shared a jaw-dropping trade-in deal on TikTok: a customer traded in a 2018 Highlander for a new vehicle. Henry initially didn’t notice anything unusual—until he discovered the car had an astonishing 423,717 miles (approximately 680,000 kilometers) on the odometer. Even more surprising, the owner still owed nearly $9,000 on the loan. Henry said this was the highest-mileage used vehicle he’d handled since starting his career in 2018. Despite worn interior, a loose bumper, and a lit check-engine light, the car’s major components were all original. The dealership ultimately accepted the vehicle for $3,500 and has already sent it to auction, hoping to recoup their costs. Online commenters flooded the post with stories of their own high-mileage vehicles, underscoring the remarkable durability of brands like Toyota when properly maintained. Experts note that regular fluid changes, filter replacements, and brake system maintenance are key to extending a vehicle’s lifespan.
