On February 14, Contemporary Amperex Technology Co. Limited (CATL) signed an investment agreement with the People's Government of Binhai County, Yancheng City, to jointly build a green intelligent manufacturing base for lithium-ion batteries dedicated to next-generation power systems. The project will establish China’s first grid-connected “direct green power connection” system featuring a high proportion of renewable energy usage and will serve as a demonstration base for export products meeting the dual standards of “Zero-Carbon Factory” and “Lighthouse Factory.” This collaboration stems from a strategic agreement signed in September 2025 between the Yancheng municipal government and CATL, aimed at advancing zero-carbon city development and building an integrated ecosystem of “direct green power connection + zero-carbon industrial ecosystem.” Both parties will also co-develop a national-level zero-carbon industrial park to promote coordinated development across the upstream and downstream supply chains, establishing a full-lifecycle zero-carbon industrial ecosystem. Additionally, CATL recently signed another agreement with Quanzhou City in Fujian Province to develop another intelligent, zero-carbon battery production base.
