Longbow, founded in 2023 by former Tesla and Lucid engineers Daniel Davy and Mark Tapscoff, is developing a pure-electric sports car that emphasizes lightweight design and driving enjoyment. The company opposes the current EV trend of "bigger, heavier, and smarter," advocating instead a return to engineering fundamentals by using mature, reliable components from established supply chains rather than blindly pursuing vertical integration or unproven technologies. The team has even earned recognition from Tesla’s founding members, who say Longbow’s philosophy represents the direction Tesla itself had aimed for—but never realized—in its early years. Leveraging extensive use of 3D printing to accelerate development, Longbow aims to build a lighter, more precise vehicle that preserves the engaging driver-car interaction. The company plans to launch its first model by the end of 2025.
