According to the latest 2025 Global New Energy Vehicle Sales Ranking released by China Auto Data Research, Chinese brands dominated the market, securing seven of the top ten spots. BYD ranked first with sales of 4.1938 million units and a market share of 20.35%, far surpassing Tesla, which came in second with 1.636 million units. Geely, Wuling, and Leapmotor followed in third through fifth places with sales of 1.269 million, 814,800, and 617,100 units, respectively. Volkswagen (596,600 units) and BMW (560,100 units) were the only non-Chinese brands in the top ten, ranking sixth and seventh. XPeng, Aito, and Xiaomi took the eighth through tenth positions. Li Auto, GAC Aion, and Deepal also made it into the global top 20.
