Recently, overseas media outlet BMW Blog captured a set of spy photos of the all-new 2027 BMW X5 (codenamed G65) undergoing road testing in San Diego, California. Although heavily camouflaged, the vehicle’s overall silhouette reveals an electrified design language reminiscent of the iX3. Notably, the prototype features new “mini-wing” door handles integrated into the character line—previously seen only on limited-edition concept cars—and these are expected to blend seamlessly with the window seals in the production version. The rear end clearly shows exhaust pipes and mufflers, confirming it as an internal combustion engine model. Additionally, the absence of a charging port on the left front fender rules out a plug-in hybrid variant, while the lack of quad exhaust tips strongly suggests the vehicle is powered by a six-cylinder engine, likely positioning it as either the X5 40 xDrive or a rear-wheel-drive variant.
