Although crossover coupe SUVs are gradually fading from the market, BMW plans to revive the X4 lineup. The next-generation X4 will transition to a fully electric model—the iX4—sharing its platform, interior, and a 108.7 kWh battery pack with the iX3. Even more notably, a high-performance X4 M variant is expected to launch in 2028 as a 2028 model year vehicle, entering production alongside the X3 M. According to reports from the Bimmerpost forum, both M performance variants—despite lacking the “i” prefix—will be fully electric, featuring a quad-motor xDrive all-wheel-drive system and potentially delivering up to 800 horsepower. Additionally, the iX3 M60 will debut first, with an expected launch later this year and an output of approximately 600 horsepower. The standard iX4 will arrive later this year, while production of the X3 M and X4 M won’t begin until late 2027.
