A Datsun 240Z powered by a Mercedes-Benz M120 V12 engine has recently drawn attention. Owners Jordan Easter and Michael Tung originally intended to install the engine in an RX-7 project, but due to space constraints, they switched to the 240Z instead. Thanks to its roomy engine bay, they successfully fitted the V12 up front, pairing it with an S600 clutch housing, a T56 six-speed transmission, and a Megasquirt MS3 Pro engine management system. The car also received upgraded suspension, brakes, and safety equipment, specifically tailored for hill-climb racing. Its high-pitched exhaust note has been described as “Ferrari-like,” delighting and astonishing classic car enthusiasts alike. Although the build is already highly refined, the duo plans to eventually transplant the entire powertrain into a cleaner 240Z chassis to truly enjoy this ferocious classic on the road.
