The world’s only Porsche 928R built by renowned tuner Ruf will be auctioned by Gooding & Company on March 5 in Amelia Island. Commissioned in 1989 specifically for Lee Kun-hee, former chairman of Samsung Group, this car was constructed from a bare body shell and is a genuine Ruf creation—not merely a modified Porsche. Ruf tuned its 5.0-liter V8 engine to produce 360 horsepower and equipped the vehicle with carbon-ceramic brakes, 19-inch Ruf wheels, an Alcantara-wrapped steering wheel, and an upgraded exhaust system. With just 1,568 miles on the odometer, the car features a black exterior paired with burgundy interior trim. It remained part of Samsung’s private collection for many years before being reclaimed and meticulously restored by Ruf. The pre-sale estimate ranges from $400,000 to $500,000.
