SAIC Motor’s IM Motors will officially launch its new mid-to-large premium extended-range electric SUV, the LS8, in Q1 of this year. The vehicle will be available in both single- and dual-motor configurations, powered by a 1.5T range-extender system paired with either a 52.1 kWh or 65.9 kWh battery pack, delivering CLTC-rated all-electric ranges of 340 km and 430 km respectively. It also supports advanced intelligent driving assistance features. The LS8 carries forward the brand’s signature design language, featuring a closed-off front fascia, full-width daytime running lights, “7”-shaped headlights, and contrasting-color C-pillars. Its dimensions measure 5,085 mm in length, 2,000 mm in width, and 1,817 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,060 mm. Inside, the cabin is equipped with a 27.1-inch integrated central display and a 15.6-inch passenger entertainment screen, running the IM AI OS intelligent cockpit system. Seating configurations include both five- and six-seat layouts. Mid- and high-end trims come with LiDAR sensors. The LS8 is expected to start at RMB 250,000–270,000, with the top-spec variant potentially reaching RMB 320,000.
