On February 26, Tingting, Senior Director of Autonomous Driving Products at XPeng Motors, shared a real-world test video of XPeng’s GX Robotaxi, demonstrating its ability to perform autonomous driving maneuvers without a human driver in the main seat and without relying on high-definition maps within a campus environment. The vehicle is powered by XPeng’s second-generation VLA (Vision-Language-Action) large model, has passed third-party facility testing, and has obtained Guangzhou’s Intelligent Connected Vehicle road testing permit. It is now undergoing regular L4-level public road testing. The second-generation VLA was launched in November 2025 and features “in-brain reasoning” capabilities, enabling it to simulate response strategies for various scenarios. This significantly enhances NGP (Navigation Guided Pilot) performance on complex narrow roads, increasing the average distance between driver interventions by 13 times. XPeng Chairman He Xiaopeng revealed that Volkswagen will be the first customer to adopt this model, with mass production imminent.
