Recently, Hunan Tianyan Mechanical Co., Ltd.—a subsidiary of Changan Automobile Group—announced the successful ignition of its self-developed Power Turbine Generator (PTG). This system is a modular, detachable fuel-based power generation unit that can rapidly replenish energy for battery electric vehicles (BEVs) without altering their core structure, thereby alleviating range and charging anxiety. Compared to conventional range extenders, the PTG features a more compact design, higher power density, and greater fuel adaptability. The R&D team has achieved breakthroughs in ultra-high-speed generators, high-speed gas turbines, NVH (noise, vibration, and harshness) control, and high-temperature electronic control systems. Additionally, through advanced cooling and thermal management strategies, the system ensures stable operation even under high-temperature conditions. In the future, this technology could not only reduce reliance on large-capacity batteries but also expand into applications such as drones and portable outdoor equipment.
