On February 25, Contemporary Amperex Technology Co. Limited (CATL) and BMW Group signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in Beijing to deepen collaboration on cross-border data pilots for battery passports and joint efforts to reduce carbon footprints across their supply chains. This initiative aims to enhance digital management and data interoperability within global supply chains, promote pilot applications of standardized battery information and data protocols, and strengthen coordinated responses to global regulations. The signing took place during German Chancellor Friedrich Merz’s visit to China with a delegation of executives from 30 German companies, highlighting the close cooperation between China and Germany in green, low-carbon, and sustainable development. CATL and BMW have maintained a strategic partnership since 2012, continuously deepening mutual trust through collaboration in battery production and joint R&D.
