A Texas woman recently faced an unusual dilemma while trying to change a tire: neither Walmart nor the professional tire shop Discount Tire could remove the rusted lug nuts from her wheel. She shared her frustrating experience on TikTok, saying even her strongest husband was powerless to loosen them. Mechanics reportedly suggested using a blowtorch to melt the nuts off—a method that could damage the rim and cost an extra $150. Online commenters offered various solutions, including using an extended breaker bar, penetrating lubricant, or simply drilling the nuts out. Experts explained that such issues typically arise from over-tightening during installation, cross-threading, or long-term corrosion. AutoZone recommended first attempting an impact wrench or heat treatment, though severe cases may inevitably damage the wheel. The woman is still searching for a viable solution.
