According to the Korean media outlet "Korean Car Blog" on February 26, Genesis plans to launch a premium MPV in the Chinese market around 2029 to counter intense competition from domestic brands. The vehicle is expected to be based on the previously unveiled "Jet on Wheels" concept car, featuring the brand’s signature "="-shaped headlights and emphasizing a futuristic and dynamic design language. The new model will prioritize a "boss-level" rear-seat comfort experience, equipped with rear-seat entertainment screens, autonomous driving capabilities, and possibly range-extending technology. Luc Donkerwolke, Chief Creative Officer of Hyundai Motor Group, revealed that this project is not merely a conceptual exploration but has already entered the internal development phase, targeting an annual production volume of approximately 18,000 units. Currently, Genesis’ performance in the Chinese market has fallen short of expectations, and this move is seen as a crucial strategic step to broaden its product lineup and enhance competitiveness.
