Great Wall Motor Chairman Wei Jianjun recently announced the launch of a new luxury flagship SUV incorporating the Chinese cultural symbol "Qilin." In a teaser video posted on social media, he stated that the Qilin represents auspiciousness, dignity, and protection, and that the new vehicle will embody Eastern elegance and the noble demeanor of a benevolent leader. Wei also revealed that Great Wall drew inspiration for its Hi4-Z power-split technology from Dujiangyan’s ancient “40-60 water diversion” irrigation system, while movable-type printing inspired the development of the company’s “Guiyuan” technology platform. Previously, on January 28, Great Wall unveiled the name of its new WEY brand flagship SUV—V9X—a six-seat AI-powered luxury SUV built on the premium “Guiyuan S” series of the “Guiyuan Platform.” The vehicle was submitted for approval to China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) in early February. Teaser images show it features a full-width LED daytime running light, an illuminated floating logo, and vertically oriented turn signals—among other fresh design elements.
