Leapmotor Auto's first co-developed model with FAW Group—the Hongqi-branded SUV (project code G117)—has now entered the testing phase. Spy photos reveal that the vehicle features a flat-front design, closely resembling the Hongqi Tiangong series, and sports the Hongqi logo on its wheel hubs. According to previous statements by Leapmotor executives, the project was finalized in April 2025, with mass production and overseas exports scheduled for the second half of 2026. Additionally, in December 2025, Leapmotor announced it would issue approximately 74.83 million domestic shares to FAW Group at RMB 50.03 per share, raising around RMB 3.74 billion to deepen their strategic partnership. This collaboration is seen as a new model for synergistic development between state-owned and private enterprises.
