On March 2, XPeng Motors officially unveiled its latest intelligent driving system at the second-generation VLA Media Experience Day. Chairman He Xiaopeng described the system as “an intelligent driving solution so safe and comfortable that even moms can drive with peace of mind,” highlighting its significant improvements in safety and comfort. According to data released, the second-generation VLA reduces harsh braking, abrupt acceleration, safety takeovers, and jerky maneuvers by 99%, 98%, 60%, and 89%, respectively. It also demonstrates substantial enhancements—up to 300%—in key metrics such as obstacle detection, perception of vehicles in blind spots, prediction of leading vehicle trajectories, nighttime decision-making, and comfort during evasive maneuvers. The system supports a wide range of scenarios, covering highways, urban main and auxiliary roads, as well as complex environments like parking lots, residential neighborhoods, narrow alleys, and construction zones. Live demonstrations included challenging situations such as navigating potholes on rural roads, weaving through bustling night markets, and driving in heavy rain. Notably, the system enables navigation-free roaming in parking lots and urban areas. He Xiaopeng expressed confidence that XPeng will elevate the full-road driving experience to a score of 99 out of 100 within this year.
