According to the latest data from SNE Research, global EV battery installations reached 1,187 GWh in 2025, up 31.7% year-over-year. CATL maintained its leading position with 464.7 GWh of installations, followed by BYD in second place with 194.8 GWh; together, they accounted for 55.6% of the market share. CATL solidified its dominance through a diversified customer base and advances in sodium-ion battery technology, while BYD leveraged its vertically integrated "vehicle + battery" model, driving a 201.4% surge in its European installations. In contrast, South Korea’s top three—LG Energy Solution, SK On, and Samsung SDI—collectively held only 15.3% market share, down year-over-year due to client concentration and weak regional demand. Panasonic is accelerating its expansion into energy storage and new North American customers to reduce reliance on Tesla. Looking ahead to 2026, the industry will increasingly focus on technological iteration and emerging growth areas like energy storage, intensifying divergence among companies.
