SAIC Volkswagen’s first “golden range extender,” built on the EA211 1.5T EVO II engine, officially rolled off the production line on March 2 and will debut on the all-new large-range extended SUV—the ID.ERA 9X. The vehicle is scheduled to open for pre-orders at the end of March 2026. The range extender integrates advanced technologies such as a VTG (Variable Turbine Geometry) turbocharger, deep Miller cycle combustion, and a 350-bar high-pressure fuel injection system, delivering both high-efficiency power generation and low emissions. In extreme cold-weather testing at -30°C, the ID.ERA 9X achieved a 0–100 km/h acceleration time of just 6.31 seconds under low battery conditions, with the range extender adding less than 0.5 decibels of operational noise. Measuring over 5.2 meters in length with a wheelbase of 3,070 mm, the ID.ERA 9X is equipped with a 65.2 kWh battery pack, offering a CLTC pure-electric range exceeding 400 km. The vehicle also features a new design language, including a full-width LED light bar and illuminated logo.
