IM Motors recently released teaser images of its new full-size SUV, the LS8, highlighting its innovative steering wheel design. The tagline “Half a turn, full control” hints at the adoption of steer-by-wire technology—eliminating the mechanical linkage between the steering wheel and the steering gear, optimizing the steering ratio so that half a turn achieves the same turning angle as a full turn in conventional systems. The vehicle is confirmed to debut officially in March. In terms of exterior design, the LS8 features a closed-off front fascia, a full-width LED light bar, “T”-shaped headlights, flush door handles, a roof-mounted LiDAR unit, and贯穿式 rear lighting, delivering a highly futuristic and tech-forward appearance. The LS8 measures 5,085 mm in length, 2,000 mm in width, and 1,807 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,060 mm. Powertrain options include a 1.5T range-extender system, available either as a single-motor rear-wheel-drive configuration (230 kW) or a dual-motor all-wheel-drive setup (front motors: 150/160 kW; rear motor: 230 kW). IM Motors previously indicated that the LS8 will play a key role in bringing steer-by-wire technology and Level 3 advanced driver-assistance systems into mass production.
