On March 4, Huawei unveiled the world's highest-spec mass-produced 896-line LiDAR at its Harmony Intelligent Mobility Technology Refresh Launch Event. Featuring an industry-first dual-optical-path imaging-grade technology, this LiDAR achieves a generational leap in perception capabilities. Through a high-density laser matrix, it upgrades environmental modeling from point-cloud to surface-level representation, delivering a fourfold improvement in perception performance compared to the 192-line version. In real-world tests, it can detect a dog wagging its tail from 55 meters away and accurately identify low obstacles as small as 14 cm from 120 meters—extending detection range by 77%—while maintaining stable modeling at distances up to 200 meters, effectively reducing false braking and missed detections. The new LiDAR is initially available on the AITO M9 flagship model and the尊界 (Zunjie) S800, with an optional upgrade price premium of RMB 10,000–20,000 over the 192-line version, and will be expanded to more brands and vehicle models in the future.
