At the Harmony Intelligent Mobility Technology Refresh Launch Event on March 4, Huawei officially unveiled the world’s highest-resolution mass-produced 896-line LiDAR—the new-generation dual-optical-path imaging-grade LiDAR. The product was introduced by Jin Yuzhi, CEO of Huawei’s Intelligent Automotive Solutions Business Unit. Featuring an industry-first dual-optical-path architecture, an integrated dual-focus design, and dual laser-receiving units, it supports fused imaging combining wide-angle and telephoto views, marking LiDAR’s evolution from the “3D point cloud era” into the “3D imaging era.” The sensor delivers a stable perception and recognition range of up to 120 meters and can accurately detect obstacles as low as 14 cm—including debris on highways, low-reflectivity objects, and irregularly shaped obstacles. Yu Chengdong of Huawei revealed that development of this LiDAR had already begun during his tenure as CEO of the automotive BU, adding emotionally, “It wasn’t easy—it’s finally meeting consumers today.”
