On March 4, Huawei brought together its two automotive businesses—Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance (HIMA) and the Intelligent Automotive Solutions Business Unit (IAS BU)—for the first time at the Harmony Intelligent Mobility Technology Launch Event. IAS BU CEO Jin Yuzhi took the stage to unveil a new generation of LiDAR, marking a critical step in the integration of the two units. Since establishing the IAS BU in 2019, Huawei has consistently adhered to its "no car manufacturing" stance, focusing instead on supplying intelligent automotive components. Facing mounting pressure from U.S. sanctions and chip supply disruptions, Richard Yu, Chairman of Huawei’s Consumer Business Group, has pushed the company to accelerate its expansion into the automotive sector to sustain channel vitality. The joint appearance of Jin Yuzhi and Richard Yu underscored Huawei’s determination to consolidate resources and strengthen its intelligent automotive technologies. The launch of the new-generation LiDAR is expected to further enhance Huawei’s core competitiveness in the field of intelligent driving.
