Mercedes-Benz and Geely are engaging in deep collaboration to jointly develop a new electric vehicle platform. According to multiple sources, since late January, senior Mercedes-Benz executives have frequently visited Geely’s R&D center in Hangzhou Bay, and in early February, a Geely team traveled to Jinqiao, Shanghai, to further finalize cooperation details with Mercedes-Benz. Both parties have reached an agreement that Mercedes-Benz will build a new platform, codenamed “Phoenix,” based on Geely’s latest GEEA 4.0 electronic and electrical architecture. This platform will underpin Mercedes-Benz’s global entry-level electric vehicle models. The initiative marks profound synergy between the two automakers at the level of whole-vehicle electronic and electrical architecture and represents a key step in Mercedes-Benz’s accelerated transition toward electrification.
