Cupra brand achieved sales of 328,800 units in 2025, up 32.5% year-over-year, surpassing its parent company SEAT. The 2026 Cupra Born—a compact electric hot hatch—receives a mid-cycle refresh featuring sharper triangular headlights and more aggressive front and rear bumpers. Inside, the most notable change is the removal of touch-sensitive steering wheel controls, replaced by traditional physical buttons, and an increase in window switches from two to four. However, the climate control system retains the Volkswagen Group’s familiar touch-slider interface. The updated model comes equipped with a 12.9-inch Android-powered infotainment screen and a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, complemented by a 10-speaker Sennheiser audio system, augmented reality head-up display, and upgraded interior materials. In terms of performance, the top-tier VZ variant delivers 322 horsepower, powered by a 79 kWh battery offering up to 600 km of WLTP-rated range and accelerating from 0–100 km/h in just 5.6 seconds. The entry-level Plus version produces 188 horsepower with a 58 kWh battery, providing approximately 450 km of range. All variants now feature a one-pedal driving mode, and higher trims add launch control functionality. Production will commence at the Zwickau plant in Germany in Q2 2026, with deliveries starting this summer. The previously announced plan to enter the U.S. market by 2030 may be delayed due to shifting market conditions.
