On March 5, SAIC Volkswagen officially commenced mass production of the ID.ERA9X at its Ningbo plant, with the first vehicle rolling off the assembly line simultaneously. As the inaugural model in the ID.ERA series, the ID.ERA9X marks the full implementation of SAIC Volkswagen’s comprehensive energy strategy and targets the premium extended-range SUV market. The ID.ERA9X features a design language described as “bold, pure, and rugged,” and is available in two exterior colors: “Desert Gold” and “Fairy Trail Green.” The interior embodies the concept of “harmony between squareness and roundness,” equipped with a 15.6-inch dual-screen setup, a 21.4-inch ceiling-mounted rear-seat display, and a 12.8-meter ambient lighting strip encircling the cabin. It adopts a six-seat layout and includes luxurious amenities such as a refrigerator, large-screen TV, and plush seating. Technologically, the vehicle debuts SAIC Volkswagen’s SmartSurface Magic Screen technology, supporting hidden-touch controls and blind-spot imaging to effectively prevent “dooring” accidents. With dimensions of 5,207 mm (length) × 1,997 mm (width) × 1,810 mm (height) and a wheelbase of 3,070 mm, the ID.ERA9X is powered by an EA211 range extender (105 kW). It offers three battery and drivetrain configurations, delivering a CLTC all-electric range exceeding 400 km and a combined range surpassing 1,000 km.
