Recently, at the annual Two Sessions in Beijing, Wang Zhijie, a national deputy to the National People's Congress and Director of Chongqing Municipal Commission of Economy and Information Technology, showcased several innovative scientific and technological achievements from Chongqing. The most eye-catching among them was the world’s first hybrid-powered drone, the "Rainbow YH-1000S." Jointly developed by the 11th Academy of China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation (CASC) and Chongqing-based automaker Seres, the drone successfully completed its maiden flight last month. Equipped with a high-power hybrid propulsion system, it represents a groundbreaking integration of core technologies from both the automotive and unmanned aerial vehicle sectors. Designed to meet airworthiness standards, the drone boasts a maximum payload of 1.2 tons, a flight endurance of 10 hours, and a range of up to 1,500 kilometers. It is capable of taking off and landing on water and snow, making it suitable for applications such as logistics, emergency rescue, and marine monitoring. Also on display were other innovative products, including an egg-sized, tracked amphibious micro-industrial drone.
