At the 2026 National Two Sessions, representatives from China's tech sector collectively called for accelerating the commercialization of autonomous driving. With the first batch of L3-level vehicles now operating on Beijing’s expressways and autonomous buses in the Guangzhou-Shenzhen region launching commercial, fare-based services, the industry’s focus has shifted from technical validation to building sustainable business models. Lei Jun, founder of Xiaomi Group, stressed that safety is the “red line” for autonomous driving commercialization and must be prioritized. Fu Qiang, founder of WM Motor, emphasized the need to expedite supportive policies, regulations, and coordinated infrastructure development to truly integrate the technology into everyday public transportation. Delegates unanimously agreed that autonomous driving is entering a critical window period—transitioning from initial trials to breakthrough-scale adoption.
