BMW Group announced that the first all-electric sedan based on the Neue Klasse platform—the new-generation BMW i3—has successfully completed extreme cold-weather testing within the Arctic Circle in Arjeplog, Sweden. The vehicle will make its global debut on March 18. Equipped with a new electric drive system and BMW’s “Driving Dynamics Superbrain,” the i3 delivers millisecond-level precision control, with response speeds improved tenfold. It also features the smoothest braking system ever fitted to a BMW 3 Series, enabling “imperceptible braking” that is free of judder and noise. In February this year, BMW began pre-series production of the i3 at its Munich plant. The current vehicles undergoing testing are prototypes and will not be delivered to customers. As the second model built on the Neue Klasse platform, the i3 will launch first in Europe. Additionally, the new-generation BMW iX3 Long Wheelbase, specifically developed for the Chinese market, will make its global premiere at the Beijing Auto Show in April. Its digital features have been co-developed by Chinese and German teams to better meet the needs of Chinese users.
