South Korean battery maker SK On has laid off 968 workers at its battery plant in Commerce, Georgia, due to slowing demand in the electric vehicle (EV) market. According to documents filed by the company on Saturday and requirements under the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) Act, its U.S. subsidiary, SK Battery America Inc., has formally terminated nearly 1,000 employees at the facility. This large-scale layoff reflects the direct impact of the current global slowdown in EV market growth on supply chain companies.
