This week has seen significant developments in the fields of intelligent vehicles and embodied AI: XPeng Motors Chairman He Xiaopeng stated that 2024 marks a "watershed moment" for autonomous driving R&D, urging policymakers to leapfrog from Level 2 (L2) directly to Level 4 (L4) regulations to enable nationwide compliant deployment. XPeng’s second-generation VLA model, paired with its self-developed chip, has already entered the initial stage of L4 autonomy. Meanwhile, Xiaomi’s humanoid robot has begun “interning” at an automotive factory, achieving a 90.2% success rate at the self-tapping nut workstation while meeting a production cycle time of 76 seconds. Huawei’s Qiankun unveiled the world’s highest-specification mass-produced 896-line LiDAR, debuting on the Zeekr S800 and Aito M9, delivering “image-level” perception capabilities. Additionally, Pony.ai has achieved monthly profitability per Robotaxi unit in Shenzhen, generating an average daily net income of RMB 338. Joyson Electronic and Enpower Greentech have also partnered to co-develop a high-energy-density solid-state battery system tailored for robotics applications.
