On March 10, China Automotive Technology & Research Center (C-NCAP) released its latest test results, awarding the Max Long-Range EV variant of the SHANGYE H5—a joint creation by Huawei and SAIC—with a “Five-Star Plus” safety rating, achieving an overall score rate of 93.8%. This makes it the only model under RMB 200,000 to receive this top honor. The vehicle excelled across multiple categories, including occupant protection, active safety, and vulnerable road user (VRU) protection. Notably, its AEB system earned full marks for detecting pedestrians and two-wheel vehicles, outperforming many higher-priced models in safety performance. In terms of product capabilities, the SHANGYE H5 measures 4,780 mm in length, 1,910 mm in width, and 1,657 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,840 mm. It offers over 1 meter of rear legroom and a trunk capacity of 601 liters, plus an additional 80 liters of hidden storage space. The Max variant is equipped with Huawei’s 192-line LiDAR and the advanced ADS intelligent driving system. The all-electric version delivers a maximum range of 655 km, while the extended-range variant achieves a combined range of up to 1,360 km, effectively balancing practicality and intelligent mobility needs.
