In February 2026, Tesla’s Gigafactory Shanghai delivered 58,600 vehicles, a year-over-year surge of 91%, with the Model Y becoming China’s top-selling passenger car by wholesale volume that month. In 2025, the factory delivered 851,000 vehicles, accounting for 52% of Tesla’s global deliveries (1.636 million units), solidifying its position as the company’s largest export hub worldwide. In the first two months of 2026, Tesla China exported over 20,000 vehicles, a staggering 4.2-fold increase year-over-year, with the Model 3 and Model Y consistently ranking among the top three exported models in January. Additionally, both models have recently won multiple international awards, including “2026 Car of the Year” and “Best Electric Vehicle,” in numerous countries. To boost consumer demand, Tesla China launched a series of purchase incentives in March: customers who place an order for a Model 3 or Model Y before March 31 can enjoy a starting down payment of RMB 79,900 and a 7-year ultra-low-interest loan, with monthly payments as low as RMB 1,759 in the first month. Buyers may also choose between a 5-year 0% interest financing option and one of four charging benefits. The Smart Summon feature can also be transferred temporarily at no extra cost. Existing owners who successfully refer new buyers will receive 800 referral points.
