Toyota Motor Corporation is recalling 550,007 vehicles in the United States due to a defect in the seatback recliner mechanism. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) stated that the affected vehicles’ seatbacks may fail to lock properly during adjustment, posing a risk of unexpected movement and increasing the likelihood of occupant injury in a crash. To address this safety concern, authorized dealers will replace the reset spring in the seatback recliner assembly free of charge for affected vehicles. The recall covers certain 2021–2024 model-year Toyota and Lexus vehicles. Specific details can be found on the NHTSA website or by contacting Toyota customer service.
