Hesai Technology, a global leader in LiDAR solutions, announced that its second-generation pure solid-state near-field LiDAR, the FTX, has been selected for front-loaded mass production on Changan Automobile’s next-generation L3 intelligent vehicle platform. Featuring an ultra-wide field of view of 180°×140°, the FTX precisely detects low-profile obstacles and works in tandem with long-range primary LiDARs to significantly enhance perception capabilities in critical L3 driving scenarios. The FTX also boasts a more compact design and a 66% reduction in weight, helping to lower vehicle integration complexity and costs. This collaboration comes as China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) recently granted the country’s first conditional L3 autonomous driving access permits, with Deepal—a Changan subsidiary—among the首批 approved enterprises. Deepal leverages its “Tianshu Intelligence” technology ecosystem to establish robust safety safeguards. Hesai and Changan have been collaborating since 2022, previously equipping multiple vehicle models with Hesai’s AT-series LiDARs. Mass production of the FTX is expected to begin in 2026, accelerating the adoption of advanced intelligent driving and transforming China’s smart automotive landscape.
