On March 12, Changan Automobile officially unveiled its next-generation hybrid technology—"Blue Whale SuperPower Hybrid." Designed to deliver a driving experience close to that of new energy vehicles while retaining the convenience and familiarity of conventional fuel-powered cars—without requiring charging—the system achieves an ultra-low fuel consumption of just 2.98 L/100 km in urban driving conditions, effectively alleviating user concerns about high fuel consumption, noise, and long charging queues. The technology will first be featured on Changan’s V-branded models. Reportedly, Changan invested RMB 2 billion over six years, mobilizing more than 1,000 engineers to develop a dedicated experimental platform. The system integrates 163 core powertrain technologies and has undergone rigorous validation across over 2 million kilometers of global road testing under more than 70 complex driving conditions to ensure reliability. Since launching its BlueCore engine in 2012, Changan has delivered over 10.46 million vehicles equipped with Blue Whale powertrains.
