At the BloombergNEF (BNEF) Beijing Summit on March 12, Ethan Zindler, Head of Country and Policy Research at BNEF, emphasized that as the number of electric vehicles surges, power grids must be simultaneously strengthened to support the energy transition. The organization has now included grid investment within its definition of energy transition investment, highlighting the critical role of grids in achieving decarbonization goals. Additionally, BNEF forecasts that global data centers’ electricity demand will soar to 1,600 terawatt-hours by 2035, further underscoring the urgency of upgrading power infrastructure.
