Chongqing’s intelligent connected new energy vehicle (NEV) industry is rapidly rising. In 2025, the city produced 2.788 million vehicles, ranking first nationwide among cities, including 1.296 million NEVs—a year-on-year increase of 36%. The average price per “Made-in-Chongqing” NEV rose to RMB 240,000, with the Aito M9 becoming the best-selling luxury model in the RMB 500,000 segment. Brands such as Avatr and Aito are accelerating their global expansion, achieving significant deliveries and order breakthroughs in Thailand and the UAE, respectively. This growth stems from the “chain-based empowerment” strategy implemented by Chongqing’s state-owned enterprises. Since 2015, the Liangjiang New Area Industrial Fund has invested over RMB 15 billion, leveraging more than RMB 120 billion in social capital to support the transformation and upgrading of companies like Seres and Changan. Through a “full-chain collaboration” approach, Chongqing has built a comprehensive industrial cluster encompassing vehicle manufacturing, core components, and intelligent driving technologies. Additionally, the city has enhanced talent services to strengthen its industrial ecosystem’s appeal. Chongqing is now pushing full speed ahead to become the “Capital of Intelligent Connected New Energy Vehicles.”
