According to the latest announcement from China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), BYD has officially filed its new flagship sedan under the Ocean Network—named the Seagull 08—which is scheduled to launch in the second quarter of this year. Built on an 800V high-voltage platform, the vehicle features BYD’s DM-i plug-in hybrid system and is equipped with the company’s second-generation Blade Battery, offering a pure-electric range expected to exceed 1,000 kilometers and the ability to gain 400 kilometers of range with just five minutes of charging. Measuring 5,150 mm in length, 1,999 mm in width, and 1,505 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,030 mm, the Seagull 08 comes with rear-wheel steering, BYD’s Yunniu-A intelligent chassis, and a roof-mounted LiDAR sensor, enabling advanced driver-assistance capabilities. Its design carries forward the styling language of the Ocean-S concept car, featuring a closed front fascia and elongated headlights that emphasize its sporty character.
