In February 2026, domestic SUV retail sales totaled 555,000 units, down 34.2% month-over-month and 15.9% year-over-year. During the same period, valid consumer complaints amounted to 4,518 cases, a 28.7% month-over-month decline and a sharp 70.6% drop year-over-year. Affected by the Lunar New Year holiday and demand exhaustion, most models saw declining sales, with only three—including the Tesla Model Y—posting month-over-month growth. Chinese自主品牌 (domestic brands) gained market share, while American brands rebounded into double-digit shares; Korean, French, and European brands had no models ranking among the top sellers. Midsize SUVs experienced the smallest sales decline, demonstrating relative market resilience. Quality-related complaints accounted for over 70% of all complaints, with “transmission control module failure” rising to the top issue. Twenty-seven models posted complaint-to-sales ratios better than the industry average of 47.7 per 10,000 units sold, with fuel-powered vehicles comprising more than 60% of these models, indicating an overall improvement in reputation.
