To accelerate its expansion in China's electric vehicle (EV) market, Volkswagen is gradually phasing out NVIDIA chips in favor of locally developed Chinese technology solutions. Its latest electric SUV, the ID. UNYX 08, has entered production in Hefei and is equipped with XPeng’s self-developed "Turing" chip. Deliveries of the model are expected to begin by the end of June. Additionally, Volkswagen is deepening its collaboration with Chinese autonomous driving company Horizon Robotics to jointly advance intelligent driving technologies. The new vehicle features an L2-level driver-assistance system capable of operating on both highways and urban roads. This strategic shift underscores Volkswagen’s emphasis on localizing its supply chain in China to enhance competitiveness and accelerate product iteration.
