Recently, TikTok user Liz (@liz_10116) shared a video recounting how, while driving her Honda Civic on the highway, she suddenly heard a strange noise—only to discover that the entire front lip spoiler beneath her bumper had fallen off. “My front lip dropped right onto the highway!” she exclaimed, adding that replacing it would cost as much as $200. The video quickly went viral, amassing over 280,000 views. A “front lip” is an aftermarket accessory installed at the bottom of a car’s front bumper, primarily for enhancing its sporty appearance. Some versions, made from materials like rubber or carbon fiber, also offer minor protection against minor scrapes. Due to its low position, however, it’s prone to damage when driving over speed bumps or curbs. Many commenters admitted they’d never heard the term “car lip” before, while others joked that they finally felt like bona fide car enthusiasts. Liz is currently asking her followers for recommendations on replacements.
